Stands Up to the Elements
The Gigatent Family Cabin tent offers versatility in a large shelter designed for a group of people or a family.
The tent is made up of two large rooms that can be converted into four by using internal dividers.
Whether using two rooms or four, the Gigatent Family Cabin tent provides enough room for up to 10 people to sleep.
The combination room can also be used as a screen area. Entry into the tent is available through two offset doors on the side.
The eight large windows, vents in the roof and four-foot vents in the center of the outside walls help reduce moisture buildup inside the tent and cools things off on warm days. Sewn in pockets help keep things organized. A bathtub floor means there are no ground-level seams to leak.
Gigatent Family Cabin Tent: Users Comments (consolidated from Amazon, Buy.com and Buzzillion)
From the reviews that could be found online, the Gigatent Family cabin tent gets mostly high marks for a family camping tent.
One reviewer wrote he used it five times during one summer season, often sleeping eight people inside. He used a queen-sized and a double-sized mattress, two bunk-style cots and there was still room for a 32-inch dog crate, a three foot by three foot folding table and clothes and personal belongings. Being able to divide the tent into multiple rooms is also a big plus.
Another reviewer wrote at night he was able to divide the tent into two rooms, one for the adults to sleep in and the other for the kids. Earlier in the night, he opened it up into one large tent where the family could enjoy being away from the bugs for a time.
The Gigatent tent also seems to be quite sturdy. One user commented that on his first trip out with this tent he encountered an ice storm causing 1/8 of an inch of ice to cover the tent. It sagged a bit, but did not fail and none of the poles bent. Once the ice melted, it did not leak into the tent.
Another wrote he encountered 50 mile per hour winds and rain for two hours and the tent held up fine.
Despite the large size of the tent, setup does not seem to be a problem, though it will generally take between 20 and 30 minutes and probably requires at least two people.
The only consistent negative comment was that it could be hard to find enough level ground to pitch the tent. This is due to the large size of the tent footprint.
Based on the research, this family tent is highly recommended for those who plan on car camping with a large group.
The Gigatent tent is versatile, going from one to four rooms, has lots of space, holds up well under adverse weather conditions and is relatively easy to set up.
